Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience breeding these little frogs, i recently got a pair and the male is calling every night, they seemed to have settled in nicely and are eating crickets and fruitflies

I was curious as to what conditions would start them breeding or if anyone had any tips on how to get them breeding

any information would be a bonus... thank you

Warm temps(low 70s to around 80), high humidity(minimum ventilation) and corkbark tubes placed over a water area would be a good start. These guys are very similar in care requirements and breeding habits to mossy frogs, with the major diffrence being that they aren't as cold tolerant as Theloderma.

good rain and an increase in fresh water raising the water level. lucky bamboo has been talked about being a good plant choice for them to lay on.
mine never seemed to show any problem with the cool 66 degree temps my basement got to here in MN in the winter. I would actually say they tolerate the heat less then the cold. Mine allways refused FF so i stuck to smaller sized crickets. I kepted them compleatly over water and in more of a jungle style setup with only a small water bucket. never got them to breed but they seemed very happy how they were kepted. also these guys can jump like crazy so bigger is better as far as the enclosure goes. they are pretty flighty.

did yours come from patrick?

Can anyone post pics of what their Nyctixalus pictus setups look like, I would especially like to see how everyone is incorporating the cork tube into their builds. I too am going to try a pair or trio and have the cork tubes but unsure how to incorporate them into the build in a way that is asthetically pleasing.
