should have asked what the plant was 1st before putting it in, cut off a stalk with a few leaves from a neighbors yard-they didn't know the type either.

OK to have in the vivarium or is there any downsides to it?

I had some in my viv when I first built it.....It flowered about 5 times and then turned light green then to brown and dies off.....I think I got it to wet for to long and rotted the roots. The only down side I could find was that the root ball can get very big so if you need to remove it it can be a pita. Under bright lighting they get real intense and metalic purple. Really beautiful plant. They can get tall under the right conditions, my Mom has some in pots outside and they are easy 3ft tall by 2-3 feet wide.....Good luck with it.

thanks for the info, have it planted in the corner to hopefully eliminate a big ball of roots in the middle.
