Hi, just curious as to the odds of survival for a pup that is removed from the mother plant when it’s a bit too small. I caught a great deal on a Neoregelia “Zoe” bunch at Home Depot on the dead plant rack. It had good number of pups (probably 8 total plants including a couple mothers). This is my first experience with broms and I think I may have gotten overzealous cutting the pups off before their time. The left-most two I think hit the 1/3-1/2 size mark. The one on the right is the one I might have jumped the gun on. Also, is that enough sphagnum on the base to help with rooting? Thanks! Nick

I think they're big enough that they'll thrive.

I don't think that is "Zoe", which is a lineated "Fireball" cross. It is attractive, though. :)

Thanks for reply, I was kind of thinking this myself after googling...not much in the way of stripes...wonder what they will end up looking like under the lights. Darn Home Depot and their plant tags...

One more question : ) Do you think this pup is big enough to remove yet? Or should I wait on it? There’s one more spot that I’m itching to fill on my background... thanks!
