Hey there, I am getting a pair of almirante tomorrow and I am now curious as too what the best vivarium type would be for them to breed in. Are you keepers of them out there having success with film canisters, bromeliads, if so what size of bromeliads? I am thinking of starting them in a 10 vert for now, but any comments on that would be considered as well. Also, what do you all find to be the best source of food for pumilio. I have access to springtails, some mites, confused rice flour beetle larvae, various fruit flies (probably the staple, right?), and pinheads. I am also going to try my hand at field sweepings. Anyway, thanks in advance,

I keep all my pumilio in pairs in 15 gal. highs. None have ever used film canisters for me. They lay either on the tips of bromiliad leaves or in "leaf sandwiches" . I use strictly Vriesea species of bromiliads and the frogs never fail to use them. They also make it easy to view tadpoles, especially when they are getting ready to leave the water.
