Hi all,
I am about to restock my 24X24X36 corner vivarium, where I had kept a pair of Chazuta imitators before. As I want to keep it a bit on the cooler side, I consider highland sirensis/lamasi or a pair of nominat imitators. R. variabilis are also cool, but I'd prefer species where tads can be raised in the vivarium.
In a way, imitators are hard to beat, as they tend to be fairly active and reproduce very well. However, I've always liked the highland sirensis and could potentially obtain a group in the near future (over here in Europe there are regularly bred and available). I have heard that sirensis are rather shy, although the highland form is supposed to be bolder. Now I know that in the end it also depends on the enclosure and the character of the frogs, but has anybody some experience with them and how active they are?
I guess they would also do well in a group. Imitators I would only keep as a pair (or obtain 0.0.4 and sort out a pair later).
Another option would be vanzolinis although they would prefer warmer temperatures. The enclosure would be 68-25°C (68-77 F) depending on the height, but I could also raise the temperature a bit.
Thanks for all inputs!
