I've seen a couple different variations of blue jeans in Costa Rica as well as having had some in the past from the infamous Nicaragua shipment. Every pic I've seen of an Almerante (sp?) has never looked like a BJ to me, the colors and the pattern to a degree is off. The Almerantes have a greyish purpley blue going on, BJs are cobalt blue. I've also see a lot of BJs, at least as juvies have the traditional "strawberry" spotting over their bodies, which I've never seen any of the almerantes have.

The bastis are more expensive due to demand. Almerantes have basically flooded the market, and people are looking for the frogs that they have been on waiting lists forever for.

High demand + low numbers coming in = higher price

The size difference between blue jeans and almirantes are also quite noticeable. Almirantes are medium sized pumilio, built much like bastimentos. Blue jeans are tanks! A fat female blue jeans can be the size and shape of a brirbris.

There arent many bastis coming in in the shipments, and there are only so many people breeding them in captivity. So just like kero said, supply and demand.
