why not find a frog you like, research the hell out of it, and build a tank around that frog? it would make the frogs happier, and most likely you happier, if you do that than try to find a frog that fits something you already have...
Because I just spent 200$ building a 20 long vert for thumbs???

No offense but this hobby is expensive. I spent at least $300 on my varadero set-up. I did the exact same thing find the frog you really want and reasearch alot. By the time I was ready I had raised enough money.
That's what I did. I've done a ton of research on imitators and when I was building the tank I was planning to keep that frog, but just wanted to see if I could get something else if I couldn't get any for some reason. When I started the thread on the tank I posted this.
I'm creating a 20 long vertical tank. It'll have about 6 bromeliads and a lot of vines. What frogs do you think I can pop in hear? I was thinking a pair of imitators? The substrate will be ABG mix and the background will be clay.

its depends on the population your looking at for a species really.

for example, 'Highland' variabilis would be good, but 'Southerns' wouldnt. fantastica would be good, except for the 'Lowland' population. but fants are somewhat advanced. from what ive heard, vanzos would work. and in my experience both 'Varadero' and 'Baja Huallaga' imitators would work, but the so called "intermedius" populations are more terrestrial.

in respects to pairs or trios, it depends mostly on the size of the tank and how its set up, as well as the ratio (1.2 or 2.1). a 20 gallon could have a trio of imis in it no problem if its set up right. preferably a 1.2 trio.
Yes I was thinking if I did a trio a 1.2 ratio. I know 2 males and 1 female = bad news. But after looking into the prices of imitators (100$) I might just get 1 or 2. I KNOW this hobby is expensive, I knew that from the start, so don't tell me this please lol.

I think some one is selling a proven pair on here for $175

I wish I had that muh money! I'd love to breed some thumbs for a try, but 175$ is a good price for a pair, let alone a proven pair. I'll have to keep looking because that other site that sells darts closed 2 days ago lol!

Chris is one of the nicest and most informative people on here. I wouldn't even think he would close it. His user name is ChrisMiller. I hope renews it it is very informative to begginers as well as experience people looking for a harder thumb.

You could have put pumilio as one of the choices. It is always hard choosing a frog. I can't decide between the benedicta and escudo and these days it will all come down which one I will be able to find when I'm ready.

Nice frog choice by the way.
Pumilo is one of my dream frogs, but again it all comes down to price. If chris can get the site paid for again i'll order from him quickly but if not the denver herp show is august 13.
