Dumb question, but just to be sure. If my azureus were to hear the call of a cobalt, would they recognize it as a cobalt or would they think it's another azureus? Are the calls exactly the same or are there differences? I'm fairly certain they're the same but just want to be sure.

The reason I ask is that I was playing calls this morning via YouTube and wasn't sure if playing other morphs calls would be worthwhile or not.

I don't think the morph would make any difference. I've tried a couple of good You Tube vids (many, many times) that were pretty clear sounding... they all seemed to stop and listen...but didn't get any calling as a result of it.

There's a lot of individual variation between frogs. For instance, a local breeder over here insists he can't hear his southern variabilis unless he's right next to the tank (I have no reason to doubt him). Personally, I can usually hear my southern variabilis in my living room from the frog room (when all is more or less quiet).... It's the same with tincs, when I was just getting started I went over to a local's house who had cobalts, I could hear his clear across the living room. When I had tincs I could look right at my cobalt, watch him call and not hear a thing....

However, I don't have any reason to suppose that call differentiates across tinc morphs....
