I received two orchids, scaphosepalum microdactylum and scaphosepalum rapax as a trade. They are lovely, but I'm so worried I'll murder them I haven't planted them anywhere yet. I have some open space in some of my vivs, and I'm in the process of building another.
Orchid gurus, where in the tank should these particular orchids be planted?

Partial lighting works well from my experience. They can handle fairly higher temperatures (up to the 80s) so I wouldn't worry about placement as far as the temperature gradient goes. Keep the humidity high and you should be fine.

Thanks very much. Should I place them on the background, or would they have a better chance on their cork mounts?

Either is adequate, but if you leave them on their mounts then you won't be damaging any of their roots. If they are well established, I would leave them (unless you really hate the look of the cork in the viv).

I've noticed two yellow leaves on my orchid, is it too wet on this spot? One flower has opened since it was planted.
