I would like to grow Aeschynanthus or Columnea in this viv http://www.dendroboard.com/forum/members-frogs-vivariums/78447-65-gallon-display-hopefully-tank.html and was wondering how large they get, whether they are aggressive, and whether I can plant several or limit it to just one. The driftwood is hollow, probably has a 2-3 gallon space inside, which I will fill with an extremely well draining substrate, possibly ABG mix on top of Amazon.com: Grodan Mini Cubes, 1 Cubic Foot bag: Patio, Lawn & Garden which I havent seen that much of on this forum for some reason...

I plan on planting one in the driftwood hollow so it cascades over the side and one in the epiweb background, and trying to choose from these varieties.

Any suggestions as to suitabilty for terrarium growth? The "Red Elf" is pretty high on my wish list...

they vary in size. some would fin in any viv, others need large enclosures.

i find that they are great viv subjects. growth for me is neither aggressive nor aggravatingly slow. ive yet to flower any of the ones i have, but know that they do produce beautiful blooms.

those mini cubes retain lots of moisture. So I'm not sure if they would stay too wet in a viv. But if you decide to go with them, and just need a small bag, pm me and I can hook you up at cost plus shipping (saves you from ordering a whole bag), being that I usually order 2-3 per year, anyway

PS my lava flow flowered at a relatively small size(easily under 8 inches, possibly even 6), but not as prolifically as my Aladdin's lamp (which had similar flowering habits
