Adhering Corkbark

I just bought a large piece of corkbark for my 10 gal. vivarium. It isn't flat (it's rounded). How do I adhere it to the glass? There is going to be an open space behind it. Do you fill it in so that flies can't get behind it? If so, what do I fill it with?

trim the edges so they are flat and silicone it to the glass. When the silicone is dry, use Greatstuff expanding foam to fill the inside.
I've found that elmer' pro-bond or gorrilla glue works better than silicone for adhereing the cork to the glass...the problem I always had with silicone is no matter how much I rinsed it off, when I tried to use silicone on it, the silicone just gathered so much dust it wouldn't stick to anything any more...the pro-bond doesn't have that problem, also the pro-bond and the great stuff are both made of poly-eurethane, so they are extremely compatable.
You can also flatten the cork (a little) ahead of time, I usually soak it in water, then I screw it to a piece of plywood, any where I wan't to flatten, I just sink a screw. After the cork dries again, I take it off of the plywood.
A lot of people also cut the cork up into smaller pieces, and then glue them on.
Hope this helps,
Brian
Wow...you people are so creative! I am going to give those different techniques a try.

thanks a lot, guys.
i thought about the foam (great stuff) too, but i've heard it's pretty messy...it doesn't go off if it gets on skin-is it true?

great stuff

I get the Great Stuff foam on my fingers all the time and just use a aper towel to wipe it off. If any remains, you can pick it off after it dries. It's definitely good for filling in any gaps that frogs might get into.

When filling in behind the cork with the great stuff, I'd be careful. I've heard of people cracking the glass with the foam expanding too much.

You can't crack the glass as long as you leave a space or hole for the foam to expand out of. Once it's hardened, trim off the excess foam that expanded out of the top.

ey-ey captain! :D
