does home depot sell acrylic weld or something to meld two peices of acrylic together and to add hinges..

what do people recommend to use?

I used to build acrylic, filtration equipment for the coral reef hobby. I would agree that Weld On 16 is probably your best choice. You won't find it at Lowe's. Online or an acrylic supply shop if you have one locally. Look up Plastics in your phone book.

If it isn't going to be aestetically pleasing and you don't care if it is messy or not but you can actually use the same solvent they use for pvc pipes. The down side is that you have to be able to clamp it until it dries, it will have bubbles and any smears will discolor the acrylic.. It does bond the edges together but I wouldn't trust the bond for real weight.. Using weldon 16 is much much easier, faster and better looking...
