So I've been hearing something 'funny' within the last week or so, and played it off as a pump or something electrical....although a couple of times, I did a double take, when passing by my Adelphobates galactonotus red tank....especially most recently, because I had turned the tank's pump off(after some sneaking suspicions). Well, what do you know........the male has been calling in there. It's definitely a unique sound, low pitched and drawn out....but I'm very happy to hear something out of that tank, as everyone knows these guys can be difficult to sex!

The group of five frogs are still shy of the TWO YEAR mark by three months or so, but hopefully come summer time....it'll be all about the BIRDS and the BEES down in their 40 Gallon Tall joint!

Very nice.
I just recently purchased a trio of very young Reds myself.
I had a similar experience recently with my Vietnamese Mossy Frog.
I thought his call was a neighbor's yappy dog calling in the distance.
First time I heard my Azureus call I thought it was my cell phone vibrating.

Neat, I bagged about 18 of these reds and had wondered what their call was like. They have to be 2 yrs to breed! like terribilis.

Haha, I experienced the same thing with my D. t. azureus except I actually SAW him 'vibrating'/calling as well so the visual aspect helped! They are REALLY quiet!

But the red galact(s?) won't shut up now, it's good times! I'm quite curious which specific one is the male(s) as I do have a 'runt' in there unless that's him. But I really do LOVE all of my frogs calls -- this includes my red eyed tree frog and my dumpy white's, even my firebelly toads' lil barks! God bless these amphibians of ours!

And may -- whence the time be right -- the FEMALES take the appropriate hint and get bizzzzy! *grin*
