36x18x24 New Build - Maybe Southern Variabilis

Hey everyone, been a while since I posted and have been slowly working on a new build. Initially I was making this for my trio of blackfoot terribilis, but now I am shifting focus since my fiance can't stand their call (I will sadly probably move them on).

I am leaning toward a group of Southerns for this tank but would be open to suggestions for other species to consider.

Also would love some feedback on my plant placement and plant suggestions. I ordered a mystery pack and not well versed in plants so I don't know if I placed some in the wrong locations for their long term growth. Anways, here we go, pictures with comments.

Standard eggcrate frame, left a gap on the sides and front for hydroton to help with microfauna:

I missed some spots so touched it up with Drylok...ended up liking the look so did light brushing of it over some spots:
