My first build on my 60g cube I did GS and clay, but on these vivs I decided to do the GS and silicone style background.

Here are some pics of the 2 vivs finished....I just have to get the racks situated and lights installed and these will be ready to planted.

12x12x18 #1

Kind of a top down...

Viv #2

I drilled some holes in the cork to put some broms once these are ready to be planted.

I have another 12x12x18 and a 18x18x24 that will be built sometime this week. The viv #1 I think will be used for some R. Flavovittata I have coming, the other viv #2 will be for my second pair of R. imitator 'varadero''. Will add pics of #3 and #4 once they get built. I do know the 18x18x24 will be for a group of R. variabilis 'Highland' and the #3 will be for a small group of R. lamasi 'Orange'.

this is gonna look great. sometimes simplicity is the key to making a successful viv, and yours proves that. What is the mixture did you use for the background? Peat, sphagnum, and cocoa bark?
Thanks.....Yea I didn't want to get to complicated with these....The viv for my variabilis will be much more complicated though....Just waiting on some supplies to come in.

It is a mixture of Zilla jungle bed, eco earth, terrarium moss( it is green and comes in a brick) cut and shreded, cork bark shavings, Sea grape leaves shreded. I didn't want just the brown of the eco earth or the Zilla so I added all of the other stuff. I have like 70 broms to pick threw and about 15 or so tropical plants and vines. I have been picking up plants for weeks getting ready for these.

Cool....Yea I think it gave it a bit more charecter then the plain ecoearth/coco fiber or just peat backgrounds...If I had some other stuff that had some natural color to add I would have but that is all I had on hand.

Thanks Mitch.....I tried not to use up a lot of floor space for the back grounds.

I had a good day today planted the vivs outside in the sun which hasn't been around much the last few weeks. I kept it pretty simple and once they grow in a bit will fill in and should reduce the open space.

Should have the 3rd 12x12x18 built Saturday and will post pics of that one too....

Will add pictures tomorrow of the planted vivs.
