Hi everyone, My first time posting and just wanted to share my 3 Dendrobates Tinctorius New River dart frogs that I got from Joshsfrogs back in November. I bought the tank and plants from other sources. I don't know their genders yet as they're still young (probably a few months old). One of...
  2. Dendrobates
As far as I know, there are only two "bloodlines" of Dendrobates tinctorius 'Koetari River'. There is the Understory Enterprises Koetari River that looks more like a Green Sipaliwini and then there is the Under the Canopy Farms line that looks way different, like an extremely dark New River...
  3. Breeding, Eggs & Tadpoles
Hi! So, I'm quite new to dart frogs. I got my first two frogs (D. tinctorius Brazil) in April this year. They grew surprisingly well considering they were (and still are) my first frogs and I got them as froglets. :D They're still in their first viv which is an Exo Terra Habisphere...

Very distraught to find my 2 tincs were dead this morning in their tank. Thought I did everything necessary but apparently not. I’ve had them since March and since they were different size and shape, I thought they were male and female. I did notice for about the past 3-4 weeks they were...

hey all Back in November I received my biopod AQUA, that i purchased over two years ago as a backer on kickstarter. First I did a bit of scaping, adding sphagnum moss, a pepperomia and a frosty fern to the living wall. I added substrate to the aquatic area (10 gallons) and substate to the false...

  8. General Health & Disease Treatment
Hi, I have kept 2 Dendrobates Tinctorius Citronella for the past 10 months and this is my only experience keeping them. I woke up today and checked on them, as I normally do first thing. One was fine, the other was laying down in the corner of the tank. This seemed perculiar so I put some food...

I have several Dendrobates tinctorius specimens and within the last two months I have moved two of them together. The pair showed no obvious signs of aggression (the male started calling, but thats it) and health of both continue to remain normal. However, I have recently noticed that both of...

I am new to this forum and the hobby so I guess I'll start with how I ended up here. It started of course with freshwater tanks, I had the guppies and goldfish, bettas and all the other freshies besides discus or cichlids. I then became the owner of a Florida Cooter which got his own pond will a...
  11. Breeding, Eggs & Tadpoles
Hey all, I've owned a pair of D. Tinc Suriname cobalts for a little over a year now. They just laid their first clutch and I'm stoked. However, I didn't really expect this and I'm not sure what to do next. Should I just leave the eggs alone? They're in a shallow water dish; however the water is...

Is there any chance if mixing Phylobates or Tinctorius with Ranitomeya that the big boys will eat the little ones? I'm considering an exo terra 36x18x36 build, but wouldn't be worthwhile to just have tincs or terribilis in them for me. thanks in advance for input!
  13. Identification Forum
So I have been in the hobby for about 1 year now and I have a trio of "Alanis" tincs which I think I have sexed correctly, but I am hoping for someone to help with their expertise. I have not heard any calling or seen eggs. I believe frog A is one of the males due to size of toe pad and frog B...

I have had my Brazilian yellow-head since June 11th, 2011. I have always seen him eat FF(I dust with a multi one day and calcium+d3 the other) right as they were added to the tank. Then a week and a few days ago I added two springtail cultures to the tank (10 gallon) with one under moss in the...

Alright, so I have always loved reptiles and amphibians, and a few months ago I bought myself a Red Eyed Tree frog to see how I do with them. After having him this long I have him in a small, live-planted 20 gallon; not ideal, but working well. Since this little guy is nocturnal I decided he...
  16. Parts & Construction
I just finished renovating my 125 gallon fish tank the other day. I am awaiting my supplies to come in the mail, then construction can begin. I have a 40 gallon viv, but I did the false bottom poorly and the whole tank is just starting to go bad, so I am going to transfer everything from that...

When I received this now ~9 month old tinc at 3 months old I was told it was a girl. I have 2 for sure males and 2 for sure females - this frog behaves more like the males. It seems to be getting bigger toe pads than the other 2 females as well. any help or opinions would be appreciated, thank you!
