Default All my frogs died

I had a Gray Tree Frog for 2 weeks I caught outside... Eating great. yesterday I added another one i found in a different location (was twice the size as original) and moved them both to a new larger enclosure. Paper towel substrate and a fake plant for the night. I misted it down. Next morning both are dead... What do you think happened?

Have fun with the hobby!

What the hell did you go outside and catch frogs for and stick them in a tank? Regarding your question, I would think wild pathogens maybe.

Considering it happened so quickly, I would think stress could be a major contributing factor as well.

Quite the anomaly - this certainly isn't something practiced with dart frogs. Surely CBB gray tree frogs are readily available, much like CBB green tree frogs and other common-as-dirt native fauna.

First of all, I never suggest catching frogs from outside and keeping them due to the health risks, legal risks, and questionable ethics of it. Many times herps that are wild caught exhibit extremely high amounts of stress, which lowers their immunity. Even parasites as common as strongyles, which can live innocuously in certain species, will take over when an animal's immunity is low. It's hard to say the exact cause of death without performing a necropsy on the bodies. I'd also be careful not to bring wild frogs into your home if you have your own pet frogs; chytrid fungus (or any other diseases-causing pathogen) would decimate your collection.

There is just no way to tell what happened really. Could have been something toxic in the fake plant, could have been something toxic in the new enclosure, could have been stress, maybe something was wrong with he water you misted them with, maybe something was on the paper towel. It could have been anything.

Sorry they didn't make it.
