Default varadero behaviour.

Hey Guys,

I have a question about my varadero's behaviour.

I have two in one tank, i have one confirmed male by calling, the other i'm not so sure about, it hasn't called yet, but no eggs so couldn't say it is female.

The male i see chase the other one around the tank at least once daily.

Not sure if this is courting behaviour, or territorial behaviour?

Any one know if this is the norm?

Default Re: varadero behaviour.

Sounds a bit more like territorial behavior imo. Females are the ones following the male around when courting.

Sounds like it is probably just a subdominant male. If you have a space setup you can separate them, to see if your second non caller begins to call. They will usually start calling pretty quickly after being moved.
carola1155, Encyclia and Ravage like this.
