Default Viv plants as patio plants

Forgive me if this is a sily idea, but... I am thinking about buying a ficus tree (maybe 6 feet tall) for my patio with the intention of putting epiphytic clipping from my viv (brom pups and such) on it. Is this reasonable?

I think it might be interesting, but I hope you have more ficus success than I have. Plus, are you going to bring the tree in during winter?

The ficus I have had have dropped leaves, gotten spider mites, and in general have been unsatisfactory especially in the height of summer when it is over 100 on my porch. And if I had them inside they dropped leaves. Your weather (and care) might be more conducive to healthy ficus.

If you have decent humidity I think this would work well with your broms and even orchids. Cuttings might be hard to get to root withour drying out. I plan a similar thing for orchids one day.
