Default Khammy87's 1st 40 Breeder Vert Build

Hey all,

Figured I would share some pictures on my recent build. First attempt at a vertical tank, and I am pretty pleased with how it came out. I am lighting it up with (2) of LightYourReptile's new 24watt LED spot lamps, and these things are BRIGHT (Info in my album). My broms seem to be liking them already! They are so bright that I am planning to stagger them through the day to simulate a "natural" daylight pattern. I don't have pictures yet of the tank 100% done, as I am waiting on a second bulb and the supplies to finish my door. Once I get them, I will update my album and post that it's updated. Hope you guys enjoy!

Is that fan ventilating the enclosure? Won't it get awfully dry in there?

Yes, it is. I have it on a timer to run only 4 times daily for 1 hour duration. I put it in a piece of plexi just as an experiment. If it doesn't work like I want (mostly for some air exchange and to keep the front glass clear), I can simply replace the top piece of plexi.

I think it's going to be fine. It's 1/4" thick, not really exposed to heat/cold changes, which typically is what causes the stuff to warp. If it warps, I will replace it.

OK..........everyone is giving you good advice. Plexiglass and acrylic will warp under ITS OWN weight. Wont take any heat at all. Trust me, I've found that out the hard way, as have all of us. Also, running a ventilatign fan 4 times per day for an hour each tiem is WAY to much. I am not against ventilatign fans "IF" used sparingly. Thats not sparignly. 2-5 mins would be sparingly. But I dont even use ventilating fans anymore. Pretty much everyone uses "in tank" fans that circulate the air within the tank. Ventilating the viv really serves no purpose and will impose drastic swings in humidity and temperature on the occupants.

Yeah I would install that fan inside of the enclosure. You can direct it toward the front pane of glass and that will help to clear condensation. Plants really love the recirculating humid air that you get with an internal fan.
