Default Help with A/C

Sorry I wasnt sure where this should go, but as it is related to the health of my frogs, i thought this would be OK. I just bought a brand new Frigidaire 6500 btu a/c today. It runs for about 10 minutes and then shuts off, but the LCD display stays on. The fan and compressor both shut off and wont turn back on until restarted. I have it plugged into an extension cord, but it is appliance rated. It does not seem like a power issue, as the lcd screen stays on.

I was worried it was getting too hot because the window opens up to one of those basement stair entrances with a door on top.(It is an emergency exit window) But I opened up the door so it gets plenty of outside temperature air moving through it.
PLEASE HELP! I need my a/c working...I had to turn off my tank lights today to keep the temps down after my old a/c crapped out.
