Default 54g Corner tank stand build

Less than a hundred dollars worth of supplies and three hours later...
Kinda pleased with how it turned out. Its still far from finished but I'm so proud of myself I figured I'd share

Nice work, gonna stain it? What kind of wood is it?

That is great! I wish you could build me a 55 gallon stand. I don't have the talent to build something like that.

Thanks! I suck at carpentry but it really wasn't that difficult once I planned out how I was going to do it. The worst part was getting the wood to bend to the radius of the tank. For the trim it was just a matter of getting it wet so it would flex but the panels on the side need to have relief cuts all along the back. I'll probably end up painting it since stains would only help my mistakes stand out.

Try some melamine paint. You can buy it now at Home Depot and the like. You apply it on just like paint, but it ends up giving you the look you get when you buy IKEA furniture. Only takes two or three coats. And it's fairly moisture resistant without the look of a glossy paint -- more a of a luster instead.

I use the black to hid my carpentry mistakes.

I didn't bother curving the door since I'll probably laser cut some sort of design to mount onto it. There wont be any changes for quite some time since I dont really have the income to take it much further.

Ryobi circular saw for most of it. I used a jig saw for the top and bottom curved panels but I could have also done that with the circular.

Not totally related to the stand but here's my idea for the top of the tank with a built in rain chamber.
