Default Tree fern tannins

Planning on doing a gs and tree fern background. Itís going to be a paludarium with a superset water system than the drainage layer. Wondering how bad tree fern is with tannins?

Default Re: Tree fern tannins

it's pretty tannin rich. I have treefern panels that are in contact with the water level in several tanks and they all have very rich tea coloured water. There's other things contributing too, but even if there weren't I'm pretty sure the treefern would still stain the water.
It's not a bad thing though unless you just really don't like the tea colour. In my experience tannin rich water is fairly suppressive of algae and I believe can also help prevent fungus on frog eggs.
