Default Aquarium Conversion Kits

I recently bought one of those neat plexiglass conversion kits from I Heart Geckos. I’m super pleased with the simplicity, fit and installation but I realized the holes for ventilation are super large and I’m definitely going to be finding fruit flies everywhere. Has anyone had experience using these kits? Did you put mesh in front of the vent holes or leave as is? I’m ok with gluing mesh I just don’t want a messy looking square of silicone. I’m wondering if anyone has any solutions for this.

Should be as simple as silicone and screen. Won’t look super pretty but should do fine I’d say tape off the area and make sure the layer of silicone is even it doesn’t take a lot to hold the screen.

To make it look cleaner, instead of just mesh over the holes, make a plexi frame and sandwich the screen between the existing plexi and the frame, then trim excess silicone.
