Default Blue Roll for Quarantine Tank?

I'll hopefully be getting my R. Amazonica in a couple weeks time. My first frogs and they're going into a 'virgin' (but matured 8 weeks +) enclosure.

Do I need to put them in a quarantine tank?

I have one and I'm more than happy to set it up but I've read that paper towels will suffice for 'subtrate'. I have plenty of the HD 'blue roll' type but I don't know whether they're free of bleach or other chemicals. Any ideas?

Alternatively, some LECA and leaf litter? Suggestions/tips welcome.

Industry towels, werent designed for delicate work. Which personally I consider amphibian contact Delicate Work.

There are plenty of regular paper towels used by rehabs and others, lots of data on their safety online. You can get them without bleach being a factor in their manufacture, or like I have done, use an ordinary sodium thiosulfate water conditioner to when I used white towels.

The blue towels are meant for car windows more than possible human contact. I highly suspect.

The plus side of having them in Q, is not having to capture & retrieve if there is a problem.

The plus side of putting them into their permanent environment is less stress and gratuitous change, if they are sound and healthy.

Your choice would depend on your confidence in the seller and your perspective.

I would put them in Viv, if they presented with good carriage and flesh value on the visual apon arrival.

I agree with all that Kmc has said.

Those towels are apparently unproven for frog use. I wouldn't want to be the one to find out they're a problem. I've held frogs using sphagnum and LL, and ABG and LL. Both have worked fine for me.

Thanks. I think a simple natural setup will work out just fine.
