adds $35 for a full sheet to ship to WI
Ah, that's too bad. I guess I scored even better than I thought, when I got free shipping from them.

If you had them stick more sheets in the box, I wonder if the total shipping fee would still be $35...

Four sheets of black = $216 + shipping $104 = $320.

That'd be a lot of vivs worth, though.

Alright, I was convinced! This seems like a much better solution for me- the cost difference is worth the time savings and simplicity for me!

I checked locally and there was one place that carried it in stock- at $85 for a full sheet. I searched nearly all the online retailers to find the best price including shipping. AZ Ponds sells a 2pk of half sheets (full sheet is 48x39) for $64 plus free shipping, which is the best I could find. The full sheets seem to be prohibitively expensive to ship due to their size.

I stumbled across a similar semi-rigid (haven't confirmed in person) media type made by AquaScape. I imagine that it would work just as well but is more expensive by size. (the 24x39 is ~$50) https://store.aquascapeinc.com/p/fil...-density-black

I purchased the lower density black matala. I'm not sure if there are any advantagous to using one density another.

I think I'll have enough for at least a couple tanks...IMG_20200109_171518.jpg

Not for a false bottom. For traditional H2O-qual uses they stack them in series, coarsest to finest, to catch the crap flowing through. I'm down to my last quarter-sheet of the black right now, and probably tonight will be installing half of that into a viv re-build.

I've never had any issues using the black in a false bottom. It's quite rigid enough to hold soil, plants, and a few snake hides in place, without movement.

When I bought a 4-pack of full sheets they came in a single large but lightweight box, all folded over, in half. The plastic has "memory" so the crease was there for good. But the affected area was small, and I found a use for it.

good luck!
