I'm planning on getting an a360x for my 28x28x60 build. Hoping it does the job on a 5ft tall tank.

We are going to need pictures of this 5ft tall tank :-) A build log would be great!

Here's the tank. Got the build log started in the members viv section.

How many are you planning on running? Most reef tanks are not 5í in depth so a lot of those lights are designed for more shallow setups. You might want to consider using Jungle Dawn Mega Spotlight led bulbs, although ugly, to me at least, making a canopy cabinet to hang and hide those spotlights might actually be a better solution along with better light output for the floor area. You can use the Jungle Dawn for daytime setup and set the Kessilís for the sunrise, sunset and moon light times. Just my opinion, but itís your project and your money.

I haven't found anyone on this forum that has any experience with the Kessil's, why not give it a go? The cost of the Kessil isn't an issue.

The Jungle Dawn Mega spot lights have a par output of 2883 at 100mm and drops to 360 at 400mm (screenshot attached). I'm not seeing how this bulb has better light output that Kessil's dense matrix chips, which are designed to grow plants and corals in 30" of water. Granted its probably no going to grow super difficult SPS at 30" very well but I wasn't planning on having high light plants on the floor (which will probably be about 4ft from the top of the tank after the false bottom and substrate layer is added in).

I also have a back up of adding in some t5 lighting if the kessil isn't doing the job well enough.

I will keep the forum updated on how this goes.

I have the Tuna Sun lights on a planted aquarium and they grow plants without an issue. I also run the Tuna Blue's on some of my reef aquariums and they are phenomenal! I'm strongly considering getting a set of them for some new terrarium builds.

One thing I love about Kessil's are that the controllers are point and shoot when it comes to setting them up. You're also able to run multiple lights daisy chained together and the controller handles them all. If you need to run another set of lights on different settings or ramp modes, you can run them off the same controller as well as there are two channels within the controller! So if you have a rack setup and you want to say run 6 enclosures on one setting and another 6 on another, you're more than able to with just one controller. Between one MistKing and one Kessil controller, your setups can be extremely autonomous and you'll never look back!
