Default Exo Terra 24 x 18 x 12

Trying to built vivarium from using this cheap used terrarium i got from craigslist. People said it is too short height wise, but this is the only available vivarium i can built on my spare time. I just finished adding great stuff to the background.
Should i put great stuff on the side as well?

Any suggestions for plants? These are some plants that i have on hand:
- ficus pumila oak leaf
- ficus pumila varigated
- java moss
- cryptanthus
- bromeliad

Iíd recommend not putting in the ficus pumila, it worked for me for about a year but then the mat was so thick that it started killing itself off. Use the oak leaf variant. You might have also underestimated the space needed for false bottom/substrate but Iím not sure.

Some of my favorite plants are rabbit foot fern, Korean rock fern, pilea glauca, and African violets. All of these are widely available and grow well in terrariums. Best of luck on your build.

I might be under estimated it. For background i forgot that i dont have to put it all the way down. Iíll try to put substrate as much as i can. I learned from my previous build having too shallow substrate

Best of luck, keep updating. I'm hoping to grab one of these on Cl in columbus.

Beware that this vivarium is to low heightwise. I didnít know that it is kinda hard to pick plants that is low. I just have to make it work because I already have it.

substrate added. I mix my own substrate with these:
- coconut soil
- wood bark
- sphagnum moss
- black sand
- charcoal

I added springtails, dwarf white isopods and some dairy cows isopods.
hydrophyte likes this.
