Default Possibly dumb lighting question

When you're setting up the lighting for the vivarium, does the light strip go on top of the glass top or do you leave a place open for the light strip? Or am I just completely lost?

You don't want frogs touching the lights, so the lighting goes on top. If you can put the lighting over the screened portion, then you don't have to be so rigorous about keeping the glass portion clean (of dust and water spots) for light penetration.

Light should penetrate the glass, it's UVB that doesn't get through glass as well. Is it a heat lamp (which I can't imagine it is) or just a light for growing plants? Just make sure you have a spacer or something to lift the light off the glass so heat can dissipate.

Thanks everyone. That's what I had been thinking but thought I'd ask before making a big mistake
