Default Question for Biopod owners

Hello,
I asked this question on another post but have not gotten a response from anyone. My question is if a Biopod can cool and keep it's self in the low 60s or even upper 50s? I would like to try and chill the enclosure for a few months and was wondering if this is possible with the Biopod.
Thanks!

Biopod enclosures do not have a chiller or cooling function.

So does that mean you cannot have a cooler temperature then the room?

I watched a video on their YouTube channel that they allow night time drops and everything and I just wasn't sure. So I guess if your room is too warm for the animals then you are in trouble.

Biopod has mentioned that they are working on models that have a cooling function. But they didnít give a timeline for those coming out. I did get an email from support asking about when the new updated versions would be coming out and they said near the end of the year (2019), but whether or not those have cooling I donít know.

That was very helpful! I was planning on near the end of the summer purchasing one so maybe I'll get lucky and around that time they will come out with the ones that have a cooling system.

So do currently you have to keep the room at the temperature you want the Biopod?

I just have dart frogs, so room temp (68-72) usually works for them. Winter is no problem because the tank can heat the ground and air. Summer is the only time I am extra vigilant because I do have to make sure the house doesnít get to hot, since *most* dart frogs are pretty sensitive to heat over 80 degrees.

I've seen people use Peltier coolers but no idea on how effective they are.

Do you think if I would reach out to them I could learn more information on whenever they are planning to release the updated versions?

I have two enclosures that I was going to purchase from them but it would actually be a deal-breaker if they don't have the cooling function. I keep species that require cooler temperatures. my room isn't hot it's just that I would like to give them temperature changes and keep them a little bit cooler than my room.

Yea you might as well try reaching out to them. No harm in asking. Just be prepared to wait, they didnít respond after a week so I resent the email to them and then they wrote back a few days after that. Maybe just explain what you need and see if the respond.
