Hello i am in need of some advice. I have changed the lighting on my 36x18x36 from two 40w led jungle dawns, which were a bit bright but I liked the light however I really didn't like the noise from the built in fans, to eight very cheap florescent 6500k bulbs.

My problem is that the new light looks strange as you might be able to tell from the picture, can anyone tell me what the problem is? Would repti glo 2.0 be better? Or jungle dawn led? I want to use the exo terra hood.

Should add a red bulb to lower the color temperature? It's for visual appeal more than anything else, I don't need it particularly bright because I only have anubias at the bottom and I prefer the look of green bromeliads.

It looks like the color temp is higher than the jungle dawns, but the jungle dawns I think are 6500k also. Adding a red bulb may not completely solve the problem, but worth a shot if you have a spare socket or 2.

I would switch out to some bulbs that are in the 4500 to 5000k range as that more resembles sunlight and may give you a 'warm white' light vs the slightly 'cool' white light you are getting with the current bulbs.

Yep, the JD lamps are 6500K.

Those CFLs will yellow out fairly quickly, so you may be happier with the look of them in a couple months.

LEDs grow plants better, and are cheaper overall, so if you want to swap out the 'cheap' CFLs, I'd recommend LEDs of some sort. Eight JDs are ~$240, and you can get a much nicer light for that kind of money. Spectral Designs 36" lights start for less than that, and you can get them with integrated LED spots for not much more.

Are you not able to replace the fans for some silent ones its just an option if you prefer the color or was there something else wrong with them if they are too bright you could put a diffuser on them to calm the light down a bit ??

The noise built in fans of the lights were really annoying and I don't think i could modify them to make them quiet.
I have bought two 22w jungle dawn leds to put in the front canopy, I'm a little nervous, my tank means alot to me.
