Default IKEA cork hot pot pads safe?

I saw a video a while ago that showed someone breaking up cork hot pot pads to make layered background. I canít find the video now to link it, but has anyone tried this and can comment on the safety of this for the frogs?

Greetings,

Pressed cork can be made using no adhesives (aside from the resins in the cork itself) or using artificial adhesives. I would avoid it if it uses artificial adhesive.

The hotpads from Ikea are also very thin - they might not be as versatile/useful as thicker natural cork panels for your background.

But they are ridiculously cheaper.

I know that may not be a good thing, and the fact that they may have adhesives in them means I won't use them, but I was hoping for something cheaper that the Zoo Med cork tile backgrounds, especially since I will need 6 of them.
