Default Fly-proofing vents on Exo Terra?

Is there a way to make the vents on the front of Exo Terras (below the doors) fruit fly proof?

I dont want the little buggers all over my room, plus its really easy for springtails and the dwarf tropical woodlice to get out too. So I'd rather avoid it if possible.

I tried seeing if I could get the vents off somehow but they didnt seem to want to budge and I didnt want to snap them.

There are 2 or 3 clips on the underside of the vent on the inside that you must release before removing. I remove the vent and lay a piece of no see um mesh over the vent opening and then reinsert the vent and trim the mesh that is left sticking out.

Sometimes they are inadvertently siliconed in place too- I had to cut through a bit of extra squished silicone in the last viv. But definitely don't forget the clips like Timbow mentioned. Be patient- sometimes it takes some time and elbow grease

I never bothered modifying the vents. I get a few escapee flies now and then but nothing major. You'll get more escapees through the door gaps than you will through the vents anyhow.
That said, I've never had issues with isopods or springtails escaping. Perhaps the dryness/lack of humidity in the room is a deterrent.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I've tried removing the vents today using those clips but to no avail.

Im wondering if my tank is busted or something (like they've been glued in place perhaps) because it is pre-owned and seems like Im at more risk of snapping the plastic altogether than rather than taking the vent off.

Maybe you didn't open the doors wide enough. I was having some trouble until I realized that the door can cover a part that needs to come up.

I remove the clip insert and use vent screen. Cut into a strip and then re-insert the clipped piece!
