Default Diy misting system?

I have had several issues with the monsoon misting system & had to replace it twice under warranty. Now that mine is out of the warranty system, guess what happened.... again. I kept all my tubing & nozzles. I only use r/o water in it. I'd like to diy a misting system before I go all out on a mist king system. Can anyone share plans on theirs?

The real question is what alternative pump can be used with the DIY nozzles?

Now that's a good question I'm pretty sure it has to be a diaphragm pump (they use air I think) there's also self priming ones etc etc. Not a clue what to go with though

I haven't posted this in the other thread yet.... i was looking at this pump - looks like the specs are close to some of the others on the market as far as pressure etc. goes. I think that it would require a power supply as well...... (this is the least expensive one I could find -- but as I mentioned you have to buy a power supply as well which brings the price up a bit.)

Pump:

Power Supply:

Not sure - I am thinking about getting something like this and giving it a whirl -- and replacing my old pump...... We'll have to see.

(BTW - I am not an expert on these pumps, maybe someone else can chime in.... I am just sharing what I was thinking of building out.)

Sorry to burst in but any luck on figuring out how to make it into a misting system?

Well, I would use that pump, a reservoir (Tupperware tote pr 5 gallon bucket) for water and some 1/4 OD tubing (High Pressure) and then probably build my own nozzles as per this thread:

http://www.dendroboard.com/forum/par...les-again.html

You would also need to drill a hole in the reservior and a fitting to connect the reservoir to the pump via 1/4 OD tube.....

I've heard about people using generic windscreen washer pumps.

Just make sure you get something that will do at least 45psi. Here is a link where i show what I use for a real small DIY footprint misting nozzles. Works good (scroll down): http://www.dendroboard.com/forum/par...enclosure.html

I used Windshield wiper pumps 10+ years ago. They are cheap, but NOISY. If you don't mind the noise, I had one working for years. Cost $8 and runs off a cheap 12v powersupply.

I suppose if you think about it too, the pump will only be on for a really short time throughout the day, so sounds isn't too much of an issue.
