Default another lighting question 54g corner unit

I have a 54? g corner tank I want to build out. It measures 39 x 29 x 18.

36" lights would fit the best. I just checked lowes and AH supply... Lowes has 34" t5 single bulb without a good reflector for $40. Or the AH supply 2 x 36watt 34" model for $70.

Would 1 t5 be enough? I doubt it, so would I need 2?, plus the cost of reflectors.... which means the 2 x36 from ah would be better/cheaper... right?

Would 2x36 be enough, or should I go 2x 55? The tank is only 18" deep and would be a false bottom which could be 5-6 inches total.....

I'm tired of reading all the lighting threads, sorry to add another!

How about just regular shop lights with T8 bulbs? They are not as great as T5 lights but they are much cheaper and good enough. I have two fixtures with a total of four bulbs and my plants so far are doing fine. Nice and green and starting to see some growth. For reflectors you are looking at about $20 each for T5's so add that to the cost of lights. My entire light setup cost me $45 just to give you something to compare to.

Huh.... I *thought* t8 was suitable for smaller tanks. Def sounds like a good way to go if you think it will work. (not that mine is very tall)

May I ask how tall both of your tanks are to the ground level? To be sure I can grow moss this time....

Thanks

15" from the substrate to the lights in my tank.
