Default General consensus on Handi-Foam vs Touch 'n Foam

Which are people finding to be better? Color change and shrinkage is what I'm most concerned about.

Also, how many 12oz cans of handi foam would it take to do an average 20 high vert tank?

I'll be honest, I used to be a proponent of Handi-Foam, but I bought a couple cans of Great Stuff for my last project, and found it expanded well, and did not shrink near as much as when I used it previously (I apply the foam in thin layers, and spray water on it while curing). You will need 2 cans of foam, and will most likely have some left over.

I like the handi foam alot . But the last tank I just completed I used great stuff for everything , previously I only used G.S. to touch up a area or two when I ran out of the handi foam . I do not like the great stuff at all . It has shrunk like crazy and dosen't stick to the glass as well and probably will not use it again.
With the handi foam its almost the oppisite , it expands well and seems to keep expanding when drying instead of shrinking . And dries a little firmer and sticks to the glass better . But you have to watch how thick you put it on , it can crack a tank if you put it on too thick unless you relieve some pressure as it dries . What I do as it is drying , when the top layer dries after a couple hours I will poke a hole on the foam in the thick spots with a screw driver to releive some pressure . You can turn the tank around while its drying and look at the glass and see where it hasen't dried yet by the color and I will poke a hole all the way to the glass through the foam GENTLY and this has kept it from cracking the glass . I've only had one crack . And that was 3 days after foaming ! So put it on in layers to build up tour high spots . Depending on how thick you want it 2 cans should do a 20 gal viv . And the color is easier to cover , if you miss a spot you only see black through the coco and silicone .

I wonder if it has to do with the age of the can, as opposed to brand. I'll try and keep track of the manufacture dates/results in the future.

I've personally learned to stay away from DAP products. I've had silcone tubes that didn't fully cure once used, foam that never rose, etc.

I've had only 1 problem with a can of great stuff out of hundreds used.
