Default trouble with tank

I was cleaning out a 40gal breeder I have, to build a viv for a group of frogs I would like to get. While I was cleaning i noticed that the silicone was loose on one end. and the glass is leaning in toward the center.

I think I will need to rebuild it.
How does one go about fixing a tank???

Take off alll the silicone in that area and re-silicone it. That's about it

Is there a special silicone to use that is safe for the frogs and strong enough to withstand the pressure of being filled with water??

Hey, it's pretty easy, just cut out the questionable-looking caulk/silicone. Scrape it super clean, no debris, nothing but glass. Grab some rubbing alcohol and clean all areas to be siliconed w/ it. Allow the alcohol to evaporate/dry and run some painters' tape along outer edges where you want to silicone (makes a sweet line when you pull it off.) Apply aquarium silicone, smooth bead w/ wet finger, pull tape, done, just let dry and test in a day or two. Good luck

Thank You!
Can I get the aquarium silicone at Home depot? Is it alot more expensive? How much will I need - large tank 36" x 18" X 16" but I actually think it may be wider and shorter the height is more like my 20 long and twice as wide. Hmmmm need to get the measuring tape :?

I was at home depot this weekend and didn't see any aquarium silicone there. I was able to find it at a pet store though. It cost me 5.99 for the 3oz tube.

Here is a link to the site that makes the silicone so you know what you are looking for.

I'd say just get the big tube of it, the one that goes in the caulking gun. That way, you'll have lots of silicone for other projects/repairs. Oh, and don't forget to seal up the tip of the tube when you're done, so you can re-use it another time.
