Default T6 Anyone running them?

I am looking at this set up in comparison to a T5.

Any thoughts from people running something similar? I have looked into shop lights but none of them put out enough lumens. Second time around on this topic sorry for the redundancy

I didn't even know they existed. By looking at the trend of lumen/watt from T5 to T8 then to T12, they're going to be just slightly less efficient than T5s.

What are you trying to light?

I am looking for an upgrade for my 55 gallon tank, from a cheap 98watt T5 fixture.

consider my thunder stolen. But it is good to know that about the heat increase since my tank is a closed system, in terms of air flow.

So the answer I see smacking me in the face is, though I don't want to formally acknowledge it, so don't consider this formal ok guys: is that with out venting my tank I probably shouldn't be putting any more light on it that the 108-watts of T5 HO I have going right now. Now my question is, how variable is the light output from one brand of fixture to another all other variables the same. Say is I went from this:

to this

^ i didnt read too deep into the links you posted as i didnt see what i was looking for. from my limited experience with T-5s it seems to get the most out of them you really need to run the individual parabolic reflectors. with the small size of these bulbs that was the first huge advantage of them (that and a lot of bulbs in a small space), but it was quickly noted that wihtout the individual reflectors, there want any more light emitted from them than noraml PCs.

now there was big talk about different brands bulbs having huge duifferences in light output. if i remember correctly reefgeek.com was the vendor most were reccomended for getting the "good bulbs".

disclamier  i havent read up on T-5s in over a year and when i did i was looking for replacement reef lighting. this info may have changed or my memorry may not be 100% correct.

from what i've read, that tek fixture is one of the best brands to go with, iirc, they do have individual parabolic reflectors so you should get some great light output from them, while the aquatraders fixture has one community reflectror, doesn't use a good quality ballast and the bulbs are not the best quality. if you're going to go with t5 fixtures then you probably won't be dissapointed with a tek fixture, everyone that i've read about that owns one loves it.
