Default first pumilio froglet

Walked by my BlueJeans viv today and was quite surprised to see one of my adults had shrank...or not.

First froglet! I knew that a least a couple tads in there were being tended, and it appears that the parents are doing a decent job.

He only stuck around for one photo, before vanishing. I imagine most other people got pretty stoked for their first pumilio froglet sighting too.

A crappy pic...

Very Nice!

I just had an El Dorado egg/tadpole disappear. I say egg/tadpole because it was on the verge of coming out. I check on it today and presto! Gone! Hopefully my male is the culprit and moved it to a brom.

You never know what you're going to see when you walk by a viv!

Little guys like that are usually left in the tank for a few months, fattening up on springtails and runty melanogasters.

Here is a pic of froglet #2. I am guessing he looks pretty healthy. Opinions?

Found froglet #3 cruising the viv floor picking off small springtails this morning also.

Congrats! I love seeing the "old lines" continue to be propagated.

Now the question becomes whether to pull them and put into a grow-out or leave with the parents?

I will prob just keep my hands out of this tank at least for a couple months and see how it goes. I have spotted four froglets total now. I was tickled to death with one...about soiled myself when I spotted the others.

Congrats on the 4 froglets!!

Get those springtail cultures cranking hard and don't hesitate to drop more into the viv every other night or so. Four froglets can do heavy damage to the micro-fauna populations.

So glad to see more pum froglets emerging this season! Love it! We just found 2 more Vulture Point froglets in the last week. Here is a question that may benefit the OP, myself, and potentially a lot of other pum keepers..

I have read about different pumilio and that some may only yield 2 or 3 froglets a year and so far in the last 6 months our vulture points have given us 6 and just laid another 6 egg clutch last night.. So far, all eggs they have given us have been fertile but they obviously abandon some of their clutch otherwise we would be sitting on 20+ froglets (darn it) I noticed over the winter it was a bit more dry around the house which is a given here in Washington.. So breeding kinda stopped with most of our frogs on its own. Do breeders still try to encourage an off season with their pums? Our female seems to know what she is doing and only cares for what she wants.. The 2 froglets that emerged this week were from a 9 egg clutch so we may end up with a couple more, may not.. Just curious what others with much more experience have to say on this matter.

Another froglet pic. These piglets are hungry. Been putting in springtails every other day...then observe the parent trio feasting...

When do you plan on pulling them? I noticed today after pulling froglets 2 days ago.. Our female was going to the brom leaves the babies came out of.. Either scoping out to make sure they are clear for the next transport.. or just missing her little ones.. Makes you wonder!
