Default Punta Lauren(t) = Canal Zone South

soooo

I am searching for a male Punta Laurent without any success so far.

got 0.2 adults WC.

are these actually Popa from the Canal Zone south region like stated in another thread?

would it be reasonable to get a male Popa for them?

or would that be already mixing?

I'm loosing track of all the different localities and merchant names....

no! if only you guys were in Germany

I'll visit a friend today for a male Rio Branco.

after that it's only an hours drive over the border to Dutch Rana and Hobbyzoo Anura.

I am jealous about you guys having Mr. Blue Pumilio though.

I suggest you contact them to check if they have Punta Laurent, otherwise you risk to make a wasted trip!
Some time ago I saw in a German craiglist many frogs for sale, you may place an ad there.

The problem iwth vendors is that they too cannot prove the sex of the frogs they sell.

I bought Rio Branco and Punta Laurent 1.1 and both turned out 0.2

I know, alas! But in Germany there will be someone who has a male for sale or exchange, so you can put an ad in some German website.

So odd that you are having problems finding a male. Usually those are the first ones to be confirmed sexes and we usually have a shortage of females! lol

I do think these should be called Canal Zone South as CVL ID'd them in his publications, though they came in with both names here in the states.
Our shipments were very male heavy until the last one which may have had more females than males, so if anyone is looking for a female still let me know, I may have one or 2 extra. The branco's were the only morph of Pumilio that has come in female heavy as there are many here looking for males and all of the shipments have contained more females than males, weird this is the only morph where this has occurred.

In my experience, if frog calls, it is a male. This is the only sure way sexing pums. So in practice it is easier to buy two males rather than two females.

Pumilio can certainly be missexed as adults as there are no indications of male or female other than calling & egg laying beyond that only educated guesses can be made based on observation. Males can usually be 100% sexed accurately when they have a dark throat spot that occurs as a result of calling, hence an adult without a throat spot is many times assumed female but that is no where near 100% accurate and in some cases can be very wrong when throat spots are not present. Some animals are just notoriously difficult to sex, Branco is one of those morphs, PL's have been pretty easy but getting 2 without a throat spot still gives you a chance at a pair. The PL's have been prolific breeders so if not imports CB offspring should be available to you soon.

I mean if Dutch rana can sex the pumis for call, behaviour female, etc. At least a "first impression".

I bought a 1.1 at dutch rana and I get a 0.2.
After I asked hobby zoo anura to sex a male and he did and sent me a video to be sure, then I bought it. I think hobby zoo anura did a good job and took the time to sex the pumilios instead of selling them with only an intuition.
