Default Rio Branco = Guarumo...

Since Frank Steinmann's Pumilio Compendium has reached the US afaik I wanted to get your attention on the locality list in the book.

According to the author, most new morphs are just "merchant" names in order to sell them easier to new people.

Among others he lists Guarumo as an original locality which is also sold under the name Rio Branco.

I got my two Rio Branco animals directly from the source so I didnt pay that much.

But I'd still like to know wether this means that I can also search for a Guarumo male since I have two females instead of looking for Rio Branco - since most people don't have them yet.

I've always seen indicate these frogs (color and pattern) as Guarumo or Rambala. Now Rio Branco ... I'm confused! I think it is better to follow the specifications of your source of purchase - but for me your frogs are Guarumo (very nice Guarumo).

Azurel actually started a discussion about the book here:

Maybe you would like to contribute to the discussion?

Hi, PumilioTurkey
Very nice frogs, I love this the Guarumo and diversity in the pattern.
As the book indicates the Rio Branco is a trade name as so many, but they are still Guarumo.
Same thing happened to me with 2 of my species, If you would like to buy a copy for whatever reason try to find frogs in this trade name, especially if there is no way to know where they come from.
A greeting and luck in finding the male.
