Confusion with the locality of pumilio Rambala

Very good, this post is open to everyone who keeps the yellow morpho Rambala as anyone who can provide any help in the discussion of localities.

I slowly realizing and gone in this case pumilio difficulty perfeción saver to both the town and the different morpho within a locality, often due to changes in the names of the importers.
For example with my supposed partner Rambala are captive and not where their ancestors were imported would arrive so I can not provide data but e seen several forum with this same problem.
The fact is that more and started to investigate after reading the book The complete Oophaga pumilio and Rambala shown in.

The author comments that are Southwestern side of the Cerro Pina de Arroz, prov. Bocas del toro having a colour orange;limbs greyish to turquoise.
The sole importer and seen this description is Peruvian-frogimport, and all others who are of different patterns seen but yellow.
It is helping me a lot MiguelP in search of information and there are issues in dendroboard example of the relation of these alleged Rambalas yellow, with proximity to morph Guarumo (Rio Branco)

Both areas are a few miles away and I wonder if years ago mistook these imports pumilios for its proximity, or coloring uncataloged Rambala?
I show some pictures of my partner and the only morph showing the book.
(In case it is not legal to show an image of a book I'll delete immediately)

I will be happy to read any comments or photograph of your Guarumo or Rambala that can help me stop things clearer.
Forgive me also if something is not understood or the misspelled.
Regards.

I know the same things. On this forum I found sometimes these frogs (just like yours) shown as Rambala, while in Europe we call them Guarumo. But even here I found these frogs referred to as Guarumo.
I also have seen the same frog indicated as Rambala on Peruvian Frog Import site.

Thanks, Randommind. In fact, Dendrobase is clear, but I was wondering if, in the meantime, there was a reclassification. I saw Guarumos from a friend and I confirm that they are so stunning.

I might add some info:

I keep a pair of Rio Branco morphs.

Which according to the newly published Pumilio book are basically Guarumo.

And according to that book Rambala are orange-redish looking Pumilio frogs while the typicall Guarumo is mostly yellow or red with dark spots!

One of my Rio Brancos.

Thank you very much to all, I am happy to see specimens with different patterns.
Hereinafter as my specimens the Guarumo appoints unless proven otherwise.
What I do not understand is that many importers have them as Rambala.

you can definitely see the yellow-black pattern.

I am also puzzled why so many vendors call their animals Rambala.

I have a feeling this is just the first of many to come with people questioning the true locality of there pums with this new book out. Sorry to the OP for hijacking.

Re: Confusion with the locality of pumilio Rambala

I was told (so basically this is heresay) that the Rambala and Guarmo were the same population but different ends of it. Seeing many Guarmo, for years they came in I never saw a red one and the Rambala though similar to Guarmo had a much cleaner look and less variability in the groups that were imported.
I would definitely keep them separate and go with the exporters word of what they are, accurate or not it is all the info we have. As for the red Rambala I don't believe they have been exported legally.

Re: Confusion with the locality of pumilio Rambala

I do not know if red Rambala are legally imported, but they are in list of this site (though not available):

Peruvian-frogimport > Verkoop > Verkoop kikkers > Oophaga

Rio Branco, that are related to Guarumo, are sold as "Red", " Red spotted" and "Yellow".
Ultimately, it is better - as it says Markpulawski - to keep them separate and to name them as they have been sold.
