I will get more pics up soon. As for their viv, they are still in what Mike gave me which is the 18x18x24 exo. It is very heavily planted and they are very bold frogs. Come right up front during feeding and don't mind when the door is open. I am about finished with their 40G breeder with a Supe's Exotic Jungle cagefront conversion. If you haven't seen those conversions, do yourself a favor and check them out. Best by far on the market and completely customizable. This tank does not really favor breeding for them as where the one I am building will have 100+ rearing sites with film can clusters and many broms. I am about finished the hardscape so I will slap some shots up of that this evening.

So did these turn out to be a pair, I see you are looking for a female?

I just ordered one of these for a 10 gallon grow out tank. Brent was great to work with and he helped me design what I need. I'm actually using it for a top because the 10 gallon is setup to be terrestrial. Looks like they are made pretty well.

Sorry Mark, just seen your reply. I can't confirm either way this is a pair. They hang out together and the male calls often, but Mike never bred them but I added a bunch of film cans to give them a lot more eggs rearing sites so I will keep my fingers crossed. But, another known female can't hurt lol.

Though as scarce as hens teeth if you find another female be careful, adding one to an established pair might not end well.

Oh I know. I see a lot of folks placing trios of these in smaller tanks than I keep a trio of pumilio in though. So, if I do find another, I will use a 75 gallon or larger tank. I placed a decent amount of film cans in there as there were really not a lot of "rearing sites" in the tank before. I have noticed the one that is the probable female walking across the clusters and checking them out. And they all of a sudden started becoming secretive and hanging out on a ledge I can't see very well behind the main large brom. So, hopefully that is a good thing. I have not seen anything I would describe as courting yet though and the larger one is the confirmed male. But I know these are notoriously difficult to sex. I am getting another pair from Understory though just in case these are both male. Well, hopefully the new pair won't be either lol

I am keeping a 2.1 and for what it's worth, the males are noticeably larger. All three are nice and "round", but the female is just all together a smaller frog...so here's to hoping you have yourself a pair!

Well that is encouraging. I have noticed on the few sylvaticus pairs offered, the males in most were larger. I guess time will tell.

As promised, pictures of the 40G breeder conversion I built for the Paru. However, I think they may have something going on, so I am going to let them in their tank for another couple weeks to be sure one way or another if they are raising. So this will probably be a Quepos Granuliferus trio's new home. Now all I have to do is lift it up and place it on the rack. Bummer! lol Pictured is my favorite brom in my collection. It gets a spectacular purple center in it.

I've never seen film canisters put together like that. Does that work better than sinle canisters spread all over the place?

I just recently started that. Seems just like the different axils to a bromeliad so I would imagine it will be beneficial. Rich Frye gave me the idea. He uses many clusters in each tank. And while folks may or may not like him, the man has bred more obligates than most. So I'm giving it a shot. My vanzos seem to like it. They are using broms to lay and film clusters to deposit.

To me they look like he is trying to simulate the different axles on a bromeliad.

Yep exactly. I have around 40 or so film cans imbedded in the background and the two clusters on the floor

Well they turned out to both be males. What a bummer, but I knew that the other was unknown going in. Disappointment regardless since there seems to be 5 males for every female out there.
