Default From the Frog Room

Spent some time in the frog room taking pictures after moving my Azureus pair to a new viv. The old one was leaking. I'm pretty happy with the way the viv turned out.

New viv. We'll see what it looks like as it grows out

And last but not least, the froglets

All 4 of the older froglets. They don't hold still for group shots.

I'll try not to bore you guys with tons of Azureus shots
eos and frogface like this.

Some of the newer froglets. I try not to shot these, but these are close to selling age. So I figured it should be ok.
This one has a tad looking mark on his nose

Nice photos... They seem to be enjoying the perch of wood you have set up for them. They are definitely a frog I am looking at when I finish my tank.

Thanks! They're great frogs. I could spend hours in the frog room just watching them. It's especially amusing when they try to do some sort of long jump and completely miss their target.

Thanks guys! As for the moss I'm not 100% sure, but I think it may be java moss. I just trim it often enough to keep the growth fresh.

Good looking tank. I have tried for years and I could never get my java moss to grow like that.

Recently added a proven pair of leucs to the group of breeding frogs. They came in today so I'll let them settle in then take a few shots. I'll try to take them within the next week or so. Depending on how they are settling in.

Here are a few pics. Not the greatest, but they still capture the color and pattern of the frogs pretty well. I'm hoping to get some really nice shots once they settle in completely.

The male

And the female.

It surprised me how the pattern looks painted instead of the 3d look of Azureus that I'm use to. Still very cool frogs though.

Here is an update on the Azureus viv. It has come a long way. Both orchids did not make it through the move, but I was quite happy when the one on the far right sprouted a baby (or what ever they are called). I replanted that in sphagnum moss so it should do a bit better than the other one. The bromeliad in the middle also died. It was replaced. As you can tell the moss and ferns have boomed. I also added a Peperomia caperata. It has settled in nicely and started to put on noticeable growth recently. I've been really pleased how the whole layout turned out.
As far as the frogs, nothing is really new. They have laid a few clutches. I also caught the male calling while doing some work in the frog room on Christmas day. That is the first time I have seen him call and they have been breeding for over a year now. That was quite a nice Christmas surprise!

I got it from Reptiles Etcetera at a reptile show in Omaha, NE. I'm going to need to trim soon. I'll have to see if I can get enough to sell. The only thing that is bad about this stuff is it doesn't do well after bleaching it. So if your going to sanitize it in any way before you introduce it to you viv, you'll have to quarantine it. I have a few snails in viv so unless you want snails I don't know what you would do. I personally like the snails. They are a little extra clean up crew.

I don't mind snails! I do however mind frog killing fungi. But yours seem healthy enough.

I made a huge huge huge rookie mistake with my viv and put moss from my yard in my first vivs. My auratus are doing great though, and they are eating well, after over a month now. I soaked and rinsed and soaked but I wish I hadn't been quite that stupid...

A little update. I got a breeding group of SI anthonyi about a month ago. They have been producing a lot!
I managed to grab a few pics now that some of the males are getting bolder.

Frogly man talk!

They are a super beautiful bunch. Can't wait to see what the offspring look like!

For those of you that have not heard of Anubias barteri 'Petite', it is a very cool aquarium plant that also grows well in vivariums. I have had some for awhile now and it bloomed yesterday. Here are some pics.
