Default My new viv!!!

I started this new viv the other day and just kept on going till it was complete. It was an extremely fun little project. I used old picture frame glass that I had laying around and cut it myself. I had many of the other things needed left over from building my 220, so this viv cost me next to nothing to biuld. I am VERY happy with it. I wanted it to be very simple and VERY CLEAN, due to the fact that it sits in my kitchen. It has a false bottom and a small water feature that just runs along rocks on the side. The plants I selected are simple...some Ivy, a fern, and some air plants. And one hanging plant that I forgot the name of. I found this peice of drift wood on the rocky shore of a local lake and fell in love with it. Still have to finish the top and hang a light over it. It came out with a little different look to me. A little more North american than troplical. And I think I kinda like it!!!!

For frogs Im thinking of having a go at some thumbnails. Or I might just end up with a couple of blue Aratus. Not decided yet. Anyway...thought Id share some pics.

I live in Missouri. I picked it up along a rocky dam by local lake. Sterilized it. Its just sitting in there and can be picked right out, but I love the way it looks.

It does look great. Very nice viv!

I have heard that pine as aged drift wood may be ok, as the saps may have been leeched out. However, please don't take my word for it. Try doing a search on 'pine' and see if you can find some info.

The dememnsion are 16x16x20. I used old picture frame glass and cut it all myself. I also settled on a light. I ordered a 13" 6800k power compact that should be here in the next couple days.

The pine wood issue worried me. I read up on it and decided to go ahead and replace it. It worked out because I like the new piece better.

I had a couple extra plants and left over drift wood....so I got creative. I attached a couple vines of the ivy to the wood. Hopefull it will grow in.

Looks great. I like the new wood too. Just seems to fit the viv a little better. Can't wait to see pics of the new inhabitants.

Imitators are a great choice! Very bold frog. My 3 juvis are still in a 190oz QT on my kitchen island. While the family is busy prepping food on the island they are all up at the top of the container watching. They get my vote for a kitchen frog. Very nice tank!

COmpletely finished this viv today. Had to finish the top. It came out really nice. I put a 1 1/2" vent across the top that I can adjust. It has ranged from completely fogged over glass (compleltey closed up tank) to clear glass depending on how I adjust it. I love the ability to change the humidity if I want to look into it. It clears up pretty quickly. Im going to let it grow in for a while and then put a trio of Ranitomeya i. imitator's in it. I cant wait. Plus I already have mental plans on viv number three

Top notch vivs !

Love seeing upper tier plantings and space utilization that most people don't attempt.

Superb.
