Default New leucs and future tank.

Yesterday I stopped in Pet Supplies Plus to kill some time and saw these 37 gallon columns for $46...

So I grabbed one cause I thought it was an awesome deal. I'm not sure if they are on sale everywhere, but they said they will have them for that price till the end of February.

And I also picked up 3 Leucs at the Taylor, MI reptile show. Wanted some thumbs... but just couldn't resist these guys.

I'll start construction on their future home tonight and update as often as I can.

Sweet deal on that tank! I hoping to pick up some luces next week for my new viv; good luck with yours.

WOW - that was a great deal on that tank. I have that same style tank and paid $93 for it (without the lid). I have my leucs in it as well and they use every inch of it. Post pics. of it while building it.

Your Leucs are cuties.

Good deal, I really wanted to get one of those and do a tree buttress up the back. Hope you have a long arm!

Well while the site was down I got some things done on the new tank.
I finished siliconing the back and side walls, built a false bottom and started to lay on the great stuff for the background.

After I went to get some more great stuff, I put another layer down and stuck in some pieces of cork and a stone. I don't know how much I really like the stone in there, but its too late now.

I recently finished covering the GS with coco fiber, and received some plants, just havn't taken anymore pics yet. Hopefully my driftwood gets here soon.

P.S. Has anyone used billbergia broms in their vivs? I got mine and it came potted. Should I mount it on a piece of wood, or plant it in the substrate?

Well I kinda skipped a few steps but I added some driftwood and roughly planted it. I will probably move the tillandsia on the driftwood. I need to pick something up to put in the hole in the upper left, where the cryptanthus is. There is also a hole next to it, filled with substrate. Maybe some more creeping fig to cover the background? Anyways, I'm far from done. I will seed with springtails and add leaf litter this week.

Leucs are doing great and should be ready to move in a couple of weeks.

Tank has turned out great! Just one question. How do you remove the eggs from the plastic flower pots or what will you do? It would appear from the pictures that would be a hard to task to do. This answer will help me out in this problematic situation I have gotten myself in. LOL

I used the flower pots so I could plant stuff higher on the wall. Right now the leucs are still froglets, so I really haven't planned anywhere for them to lay their eggs yet. I will probably add a cocohut and some other places on the floor for them to lay eggs when the time comes.

I should have suspected that. I still like the tank though, might want to add more rocks to the bottom of the water as someone might have said earlier. My Aratus seem to be alright in deep water but I know my Leucs would probably drown. Adding some floating (plastic if you like) plants might help out if you don't want to add the rocks. BUT this is just in my opinion. I have a 60 hex that has 4-5 inches of water, but I have large river rocks in there with plastic plants that would support the weight of a frog. I am a little paranoid, but I guess my collection means that much to me.
