Default My Azureus

I've had these guys for about 6 months. These are my first frogs and I've been really pleased with them. I've been feeding them daily and they seem to be active and healthy, although one is a bit more skittish than the other. I haven't been able to sex them yet, but hope to hear some calling some time in the future.

What gorgeous little creatures. They're so pretty (my fav color) & look well fed. I feed mine every day because they're still froglets, or at least young, & babies always require more food than adults. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who feeds every day.
Thank you so very much for sharing your pics.

Yea, they enjoy food about as much as I enjoy watching. I was given some bean beetles to try out on the guys this week. In the second pick, I can almost pick a couple out from just below the skin!

you most likely wont "hear" calling, you'll probably "see" the calling, also i might add that the first frog picture u posted looks to be a probable male from body shape and front toe pads, good luck

Thank you for your kind words. I was hoping the first one would be the female, as the second one has larger toepads and is a little smaller in size. At what age would they begin to call? Any images I could capture to help you define sex better?

I have also noticed some fluttering of the skin below the jaw on #2, but nothing significant. I am expecting to see a large bubble form when calling.. am I in error?

frog 2 looks male to me as well, and no the fluttering is just them breathing normal as far as i kno, what i look for when tincs call, is their flanks... they will puff up then release and there is a little buzz which u might be able to hear if the lid is open. after the frog has been calling for quite sometime them you can start to see a little bubble expand... but i would look for a female IMO, those both look male to me

i may have a really loud azureus but i can hear him all the way across the room and the tank that pairs in has a solid glass lid, and there is a waterfall powered by a mag drive pump in the same room... lol loudmouth...

your frogs look great! they both do look like males IMO as well..

Looks like males to me. Mine has a tendancy to call about 30 minutes after the lights go out. I have to be fairly close to hear him. Gotta love em!
