After a break from the forums, I'm back and have something new to share. This tank has taken me over a year to build, and it just got planted. It has sat empty with a background since about July, right when marching band season starts. Now that that whole thing has calmed down a little, I have finally gotten some time to work on it.
-bowfront that measures about 45" at the back( Thanks kimcmich)
-foam background with manzanita embedded in it( not going into any details on this, we all know how it's done)
-manzanita burls in the foreground( these are also from kimcmich)
- The substrate is just turface, simple and cheap
-lights are a custom fixture I built with some led strips. I plan on building something a little more elegant than cardboard and hot glue, but it works for now
For right now the plants are pretty simple, just a few broms I had around, a phalaenopsis that I got for free, and some beautiful jewel orchids (thanks for those as well kimcmich)
I plan on acquiring some actual orchids and other plants soon, but again, I just had to get something in the tank
Now are some pictures:
Side note: I tried to cluster the plants, but that turned out to be really hard with only a few plants that are all giant
Let me know what you think I should do or if you have any suggestions on some orchids I should get.
