I have a friend who does not post much on the boards here, but he has had a WC pair of Nicaraguan
Auratus for over 25 years. They quit breeding for about 7 years and then started up again last year I think. So, that gives us all some hope.

There was a guy I knew as a kid who had a 15+ year old auratus (wild caught in 83 and died I believe in 2001). Most of them don't breed that long, but some have had success well past 10 years. This man had a single auratus in a 20G tank with only a couple of plants if I remember correctly.

Darts can live well past their 20th b day in captivity, when i worked at the zoo there was an azureus pair that was 17 years old and breeding 2Xs a week.

31 years?!?!

Well, I do have a pair of Silurana paratropicalis, Gabonese clawed frogs, that could be anywhere from 7-27 years old-- probably at least fifteen.

I've only had them a year, purchased from a xenopus supply company.

My one-eyed xenopus laevis is a lab rescue and according to the researcher was sitting in the lab tank (100% covered in algae btw) with a goldfish and eating fish pellets for about 10 years. I've since moved him into a much larger setup and he has gotten even bigger and more voracious.
