Default My 20G FBT Build. (many pics)

Well I cleaned out my 20g tank thats been some what of a grow tank for a while.
Went to home depot and bought a few tubes of GE II in black, a can of GS and some egg crate.

The substrate will be medium aquarium gravel, egg crate, 2 layes of fiberglass screen, coco husks, and sphagnum moss.
I siliconed and GS'ed a piece of tubing that runs to the bottom of the tank so I can do water changes easily if needed. I didnt want to have to take the whole thing apart just to drain the water, and didnt want to drill the tank.

So far, adding the coco husks to the siliconed GS has been the hardest part. Im pretty sure there will be some bare spots lol...

Anyways here's a few pics of my progress.

Well most of the coco husk stuck to the back. Some bare spots but they dont stick out too bad.
I added the gravel back in and put the screen and egg crate back on top.
The coco husk is down and Im about to add the sphagnum moss. Then start planting my plants.
Ill head out later to get some java moss for the tank, there is a ton of it growing around the stream we have here.

Since my FBT's like water and there is no water feature in this tank there will be a small dish of water in the tank.

Well this went quick. The tank is almost done.

Put the plants in. One is some sort of Ivy and Im not sure on the other plant.
Im not even sure it needs live moss. I still need to plant my brom in.

Uploading more pics now.

I'm going to take a guess and say the moss at your stream isn't java. just keep in mind that if it isn't it may not do well.

I thought that firebellies preferred a shallow mostly water setup with some land/islands to get out on?
I've not kept them but I thought I had read that in a few places before.

Ah, you posted while I was hitting submit and it updated me with your post... I really don't think that is java moss. The tank looks very "pet store" (aside from the background) but I guess the water will be easy for you to clean out at least.

They do like the water but mine will usually just sit on land just near the water. The dish in the tank will get filled with water and I might even make a small pond in the middle of the tank.

The moss you see is just from a brick of compressed sphagnum moss.

Here is some of the moss I was talking about in my 75g.

Finally put some moss in. Live moss collected near my house. Washed in warm water and a few teaspoons of bleach. Nice little micro plants growing in it, and small grass.

Also mounted a few cryptanthus broms to my piece of cork bark. Not bad for about 24 hours of work total.

Enjoy
